God manifests his power in our weakness - 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time - February 7th-8th, 2026 - Saturday 5:00 p.m. & Sunday 10:30 a.m. Mass at Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish, and Sunday 5:00 p.m. Mass at St. Patrick Basilica Parish, Montreal

In the "New Covenant" made by our Creator God with humanity, as reported in Jeremiah 31:31-34, every human being can know God from within - because the Holy Spirit is revealing our Creator to all who are willing to know the Lord and trust in Him. We can still help each other along the way; so please feel free to share with others these homilies and your own personal faith in God through Jesus Christ. G.S.

Homily Notes

We Roman Catholic Christians over the centuries have become quiet, shy, reluctant to stand out or let our good works be seen... which deprives us of opportunities to allow God to manifest his power in and through our weakness, and give Him the glory. We waste opportunities to give witness to God, to share the Good News, to allow God to shine the divine light of his love and mercy to dispell the shadows for all those who do not yet know Him....

This is crucial for us all in living our our Christian vocation... since we are called, as daughters and sons of God, to be like Jesus in the world, which is humanly impossible given our the frailty of our mortal human condition since the original sin. However, this simply means that what is impossible for us become possible with God, who loves to manifest his power in and through our human weakness. This is so that it can become apparent to humanity that it is God who saves, and not us; encouraging people to turn to God and open themselves to Him. God alone gives life, forgives sin, and raises up fallen humanity.
