Homily Notes

God speaks his Word to us...

God is Light in the darkness...
God's power radiates through the Cross... why is it so shocking?
The Kingdom of God is Jesus...

God is calling you by name... do you hear Him?
The Bible witnesses and Christians consistently say that it is in silence that we can come to "hear" God speak to us....

When we try entering into silence, we immediately notice, and can feel overwhelmed by, thoughts, images, memories, emotions... etc.

Be not afraid... imagine Jesus taking you by the hand and entering into all of that with you to explore your interiority: your thoughts, memories, emotions...

Jesus wants to reveal you to yourself - all that you carry inside - all that you are.
Jesus also wants to reveal Himself to you and bring you to the Father who loves you and fill you with the Holy Spirit....

How do we enter into silence? The ways vary according to our life and the way of....
1. monks, nuns, and hermits
2. religious women and men in active life and service
3. deacons, priests, and bishops
4. married women and men
5. single people
6. young people
7. children
8. the sick, handicapped, prisoners....

Each of us is unique... God knows us...
As we enter into the silence, we pay attention to...
- obstacles, doubts, questions, concerns, fears...
- hopes, dreams, desires, plans...
What is the fire? burning desire? great goal or quest or longing?

God made us for friendship with Him... we must face everything that blocks Him or holds us back. For this, we find much aid in Confession, Spiritual Direction, the Holy Spirit, and our Blessed Mother Mary....
